Sea Raven, Theology From Exile October 30 – November 5

What is the character of God, violent or non-violent?  Is justice retributive or distributive?   Sea Raven (Twitter) explores these questions and more in her three commentaries on the Revised Common Lectionary, called  Theology From Exile.  Her latest commentary on the year of Mark is just out!  Matthew and Luke were published previously.  Join us for a discussion of the interaction of progressive theology and the Christian liturgy.

Bart Ehrman, How Jesus Became God, October 23-30

It is Easter in October!  This is an encore presentation of my conversation with Bart Ehrman.   Professor Ehrman offers an historian’s look at Jesus and how he was turned into a divine figure by those who believed in him.   Bart Ehrman (Facebook, Twitterreturns to Religion For Life to discuss his latest book, How Jesus Became God:  The Exaltation of a Jewish Preacher from Galilee.  This book is a fascinating look at the theological development of the Jewish preacher, Jesus.   We talk about the various ways ancients thought about the divine as well as how Jesus was believed to fit those models and how visions borne of grief turned into proclamations of resurrection.   Join me as I speak with one of the foremost scholars of the historical Jesus!
